(Android) Xperia S Android-telefoon: eerste Next Generation smartphone van Sony

Sony heeft tijdens een persconferentie in Las Vegas de nieuwe Xperia S Android-telefoon gepresenteerd. Hiermee is de Xperia S het eerste toestel met alleen de merknaam Sony en niet zoals tot voor kort Sony Ericsson. Om dit feit te onderstrepen laat Sony weten dat de Xperia S het eerste toestel uit de Xperia NXT-serie is (Next Generation). De Sony Xperia S is een high-end Android-telefoon met bijbehorende hardware specificaties.

Zo heeft de Xperia S ondermeer een 4,3-inch 1280×720 touchscreen voorzien van BRAVIA-technologie. Volgens Sony is het scherm van de Xperia S uitermate geschikt voor het bekijken HD-films en biedt het rijkere kleuren en een grotere scherpte dan voorheen gebruikte touchscreens. Een 1,5GHz dual-core processor zorgt voor de benodigde rekenkracht en de aanwezige 12Mp camera stelt je in staat om hoge kwaliteit foto’s en HD-filmpjes te maken. Er is overigens 32GB opslag-geheugen aanwezig. Met de aanwezige HDMI-aansluiting kun je de Sony Xperia S op een daarvoor geschikte televisie aansluiten. Goed nieuws voor de gamers; de Xperia S is PlayStation™ Certified en heeft toegang tot de PlayStation® Store.

De Sony Xperia S komt in het eerste kwartaal van dit jaar op de markt. Bij de marktintroductie zal deze Android-telefoon zijn voorzien van Android 2.3. In het tweede kwartaal van dit jaar zal een update naar Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich beschikbaar zijn.
